This turnkey **Continuous Plug Flow High-Solids Anaerobic Digestion (HSAD)** facility processes solid animal manure at high total solids content (2040% TS) to produce commercial-grade Bio-CNG.

### Flow Dynamics & Feeding

Raw manure is conditioned in an automated reception hopper equipped with heavy-duty twin-screw conveyors and progressive positive-displacement feed pumps. The conditioned feedstock is continuously injected into a horizontal, reinforced-concrete plug flow digester. Within the vessel, material moves in an idealized plug flow regime without back-mixing, ensuring uniform hydraulic retention time (HRT: 2535 days) and complete pathogen elimination.

### Mixing & Thermal Regime

Slow-rotating, high-torque transverse paddle agitators break surface crusts, release entrapped biogas, and keep grit in suspension without disrupting the axial plug displacement. The system operates under a precisely controlled **thermophilic (5255C)** or **mesophilic (3740C)** thermal regime, maintained via hydronic internal wall/floor heating circuits and external shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

### Energy Recovery & Upgrading

Crude biogas is routed through biological desulfurization, chilled moisture knockout, and a multi-stage **Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA)** or membrane permeation upgrading train to achieve >96% $\text{CH}_4$ purity. Upgraded biomethane is compressed to 200250 bar as Bio-CNG. Parasitic heat for the digester is cogenerated via recovered thermal energy from compression intercoolers or a dedicated biogas boiler/CHP unit, achieving superior net energy efficiency and high-nutrient solid bio-fertilizer output.
